How to Save Big at Academy Sports + Outdoors: Verified Coupons, Rewards & Shopping Secrets

The myAcademy Rewards Credit Card is best for frequent Academy shoppers. With approval and card use, new cardholders get:

• $30 off a first card purchase of $30.01 or more at Academy

• 5% off Academy purchases

• A $15 birthday gift

• Free shipping at Academy.com with no minimum

• A $25 member reward after spending $500 annually at Academy

What's important to know about this card isthat it works only at Academy stores and Academy.com. The $30 discount is a one-time, limited-time offer, too. It requires same-day approval and card use. It also cannot be combined with the 5% cardmember discount. If interested, apply online or in-store.

Academy accepts returns on most unused items in new condition within 60 days of purchase. Refunds are generally issued to the original form of payment. In-store purchases and in-store pickup orders must be returned to a store, while Academy.com and app purchases may be returned in store or by mail. Returns without a receipt require a valid government-issued photo ID. Most items must be resalable and include original packaging and accessories. Some categories, including firearms, electronics, bikes, trading cards, and gift cards, have additional return restrictions.

Reddit can be a helpful place to spot Academy Sports savings tips from other shoppers. Browse r/AcademySports for posts about coupon codes, clearance finds, and limited-time deals.

In July 2026, we saw one user suggest leaving items in your cart for more than three days to receive a $10 off coupon code. We subscribe to Academy’s emails and saw that same offer in our inbox with the subject line, “Still Looking? Here’s $10 Off.” That confirms Academy sometimes uses abandoned-cart discounts to encourage shoppers to complete a purchase. In this case, the coupon code took $10 off orders of $50 or more. It was valid only for a limited time and did not apply to gift cards, firearms, or ammunition. It also worked only if the items in the cart stayed in stock.

Our page is still a better place to look for a working coupon code, but it may be worth checking the subreddit from time to time for savings tips from regular Academy shoppers.

We recommend joining myAcademy Rewards for frequent Academy Sports + Outdoors shoppers. New members get a $15 welcome offer to use on their next purchase after signing up. Other valuable perks include:

• A $15 birthday gift to use during their birth month

• An annual $25 rewardafter spending $500 at Academy

Free in-store pickup at Academy Sports + Outdoors is an easy way to avoid extra fees, especially when your order doesn’t qualify for free shipping. To use it, choose the “Store Pickup” option at checkout and select your preferred location. Most orders are ready within an hour, which makes this a practical option for last-minute purchases.

Pickup notifications are sent via email, text, or in the app, and orders are typically held for five days. To collect your order, head to your local Academy store with a valid ID. Orders not picked up within the five-day window will be canceled, and you won’t be charged.

Not all items are eligible for in-store pickup, so be sure to check the product page for availability.

Save an extra 5% with Academy’s price-match guarantee

Take your savings to the next level with Academy’s price-match guarantee. Academy will beat a qualifying competitor’s price by 5% on identical, in-stock items. This works with more than a dozen major retailers, including Amazon, Dick’s Sporting Goods, and REI. Check the Academy Price Match page for all qualifying retailers, exclusions, and more. You can use promo codes with price matching, too, which can add even more value.

Getting your price match is easy. When you shop in-store, show an associate the competitor’s ad or website. Shopping online? Contact customer service with the competitor’s price, and they’ll apply your discount. We recommend checking competitor prices before an Academy purchase, especially on higher-ticket items. This extra step takes only a few minutes and can help you save more.

Stretch your budget with flexible payment options

Are you looking to buy some cool sports gear now but don't have all the cash on hand? You don't have to worry about that at Academy Sports + Outdoors. We found they offer flexible payment options to help you manage your spending. Academy accepts PayPal, Sezzle, Klarna, and Bread Pay. These services split your purchases into four interest-free payments. Your first payment happens at checkout after a soft credit check.

For even bigger savings, we recommend starting by applying a coupon code to your order. Then use any gift cards you have. Finally, split what's left with your preferred buy-now-pay-later service. Academy lets you combine gift cards with these payment methods on orders between $20 and $2,500. We think it's always wise to double-check product eligibility. They won't work for gift card purchases, for instance, and some have other restrictions. Just make sure to remember when your payments are due. Pay each one on time, and you'll avoid having to pay any late fees.
